When you're dating, you can stay up till sunrise filling each other in on the past.
But when you're married, it's about the future. Your shared future. And you can fall asleep together at midnight or one,
because anything you forgot to say can be said the next day.
And you know the other will always be interested in what you have to say.
No one's trying to one-up the other,
neither thinks their opinion is any more interesting,
And its all the truth. All the time.
When you're dating, you fight, just like everyone.
But sometimes you're a little quicker to swallow your pride--because who knows when the other will leave.
When you're married, you fight, just like everyone.
But the humble pie is tougher, and more sour, and sometimes you just. don't. want. to.
And even though you shouldn't, you hold out, because the other already promised they'll be around forever.
And later, when you come back, shoulders drooped and arms out,
they'll take you back.
When you're dating, you develop a real good courtesy laugh, just in case. And you love when you don't have to use it.
But when you're married,
well, you still use it.
But its no longer to decieve,
and you can laugh about laughing about it
because you're on the very same page.
When you're dating, you hold back a part of yourself. The part that's too vulnerable to be rejected.
But when you're married,
there's no holding back.
You know everything.
When the other blows their nose in front of you,
or uses the bathroom with the door open,
or sticks their feet in your face,
or uses your toothbrush,
its all good.
It's when they don't,
you should start to worry.
But when you're married,
there's no holding back.
You know everything.
When the other blows their nose in front of you,
or uses the bathroom with the door open,
or sticks their feet in your face,
or uses your toothbrush,
its all good.
It's when they don't,
you should start to worry.
When you're dating, sometimes the small talk, the awkward DTRs, the desperation, break-up after break-up after break-up--
it all seems worth it when you think you've found the one.
But when you really do,
you'll realize how funny you were when you were dating,
because this one is so different.
This one can tell when something's wrong without asking,
this one knows just what to do to make you laugh,
this one knows what you'll say before you do--
you can finish each others "sandwiches."
And it's like they've been around your whole life.

This is fantastic! Did you write it on your own? I really really love everything you said. I hope someday I will be able to identify with everything you just said.
