You know, it's been a while since I wrote a post that wasn't all mushy-gushy or baby-wabey or lovey-dovey. Time for a little JSYK*.

When we first moved into our apartment we were so excited for the new carpet and tile and basically a place a step-up in class from anywhere else we ever lived. But through our rose-colored glasses we failed to see the garbage cluttering the yard, the sacks of trash and rotting pumpkins the neighbors left on their porch and forgot about, the red low-rider truck that has not moved an inch in six months, the big fat lady who sun-tans in a stained slouchy tank outside her wide open front door, providing all with views of her messy living room and food wrappers going up the stairs, and the slew of super-classy people who periodically visit their banged up old beater to roll the windows down and smoke while listening to Black Sabbath at 194 decibels.

Yesterday as we walked to church I asked Kade why people didn't take pride in anything anymore. Sure, pride is a bad thing after a certain point, but you've got to have at least some if you want others to think of you as a decent, respectable person. And as far as I'm concerned, we are one of only two or three decent and respectable families in our complex. There are sixteen apartments.

Alright fine, so the fat lady can't really help her fat, or her desire to feel more attractive with sun-kissed skin, and she does have a right to do what she will on property she pays for.

But the sacks of garbage on the porch and hot sauce packets littered on the grass? These can be helped. And FYI SeƱorita, please tell your over-eager hermana that there is absolutely no need to honk the horn REPEATEDLY until your children come out for her to shuttle them to whatever after-school activities they enjoy. daily.

every. single. day.

Kudos to your kids for being such go-getters though.

And Other Dude, please tell your friends to park in the Visitor's parking instead of directly behind my husband's car. Oh, you have an awesome social life? He has a job.

I suppose wherever we go we will enjoy an annoying neighbor. And I suppose while we are here in the lower-income bracket we will enjoy several. But you know, it's really not so bad. We're getting valuable life experiences. Hooray for college-student living!

Next up: Kade's Birthday Post!
Should be crazy.
And it'll probably be to the tune of "Mushy-gushy, Lovey-dovey."
